Innisfail State School celebrates Multicultural Day and NAIDOC Week every year as a whole school activity.
Multicultural Day Celebrations at Innisfail State School begin with students and teachers traditionally arriving in various cultural costumes.
Parents and relatives accompany the students in preparation of the concert which usually begins at 9:30am. The MAMU community helders of Innisfail are invited to open the day with a moving speach giving permission for the traditional dances to commence.
Performances on the day are of a very high standard. Our school have our own traditional Indigenous D ance troupe. The Midi Midi Dance Troupe are adorned in traditional body paintings, and perform stories from their culture.
Many other colourful items from different cultures which have been featured are: Hmong dances, Maori dance, bamboo dance from the Phillipines, Choir and Preppers' performing arts.
