Innisfail State School serves the central town district and out to a radius of 20km. Innisfail is the 'multi-cultural centre of the universe' and we are the epicentre. Community priorities and expectations are that we educate the children with a focus on positive self- esteem and attitude to life and learning, paralleling effective literacy for future learning.
Our P&C has a small but committed band of members. There has been increased involvement in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents, and participation in school activities and school decision making is increasing. We are trying to strengthen links to the broader community and have vital links with elders in the Hmong community.
We are a member of the Curriculum Alliance in the Johnstone Area. We have an informal allegiance with South Johnstone State School and Mena Creek State School through our philosophical approach to the affective domain.
We work closely with the Department of Family Services, Police and Community Health.
We support the Live Life Network (Youth Suicide Prevention) and participate as a school and P&C at community events. |
